”No Me Ames” (English: “Don’t Love Me”) is the second single from Jennifer Lopez’s debut album, On the 6 (1999). Due to its limited release though, many view “Waiting for Tonight” as the album’s second single. Released in 1999, the single (which is a duet with Marc Anthony, and also appears on his 1999 greatest hits album Desde Un Principio: From the Beginning) was only released for airplay and promo only to Latin American markets, successfully topping the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart for seven non-consecutive weeks.
The song was written and produced by Marc Anthony and Cory Rooney, and like the previous English single from Marc Anthony also a Spanish version was recorded, but wasn’t included on the first edition of the album. Both versions of the track were very successful in the United States. The English version peaked at even higher than “I Need to Know”, climbing to number 2 in the Billboard Hot 100, kept off from the top slot by “Maria Maria” by Santana featuring The Product G&B. It also spent seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart. The Spanish version (”Muy Dentro de Mi”) hit #1 on the Hot Latin Tracks chart for 3 consecutive weeks. This track received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, the second year in a row for Marc Anthony, losing once again to Sting with “She Walks This Earth (Soberana Rosa)”, a collaboration for the album A Love Affair: The music of Ivan Lins
