Performance: He goes kind of big band-y with it in a suit jacket with a horn section. He moves around a bit. His voice sounds really good. He’s helped visually by having the horn section and back up singers on stage with him. He did well, but he looks happy it’s over. He gets a great response. Randy: Thinks he knocked it out of the box. Ellen: Makes a tortured pen metaphor to say she thought he was good. Kara: Says he’s never sounded better or looked more comfortable. She wants him to believe he’s good. Simon: Is really surprised he chose that song because it wasn’t a recording song and he calls it corny. He thought it sounded good but the song didn’t define him as an artist today. — Randy points out that tonight is a big one because only the Top Ten go on the tour. Ellen says people should vote. Kara says every song has a story and the performers have to tap into that. Simon agrees and apologizes for saying differently last week. Theme: Billboard Number Ones. idk about the rest of you all, but I think that was the best performance ever! I’m disagreeing with Simon on this one. lol
The other three know what they’re talking about. Miley does, too. idc about your opinions about her singing or her as a person/performer/singer, but she knows what she’s talking about!(:

I think the reason he picked this song is because Alex Chilton, the singer of the band that wrote it, just passed away. Too bad that asshole Simon doesn’t know that.

Simon is such a fucking dickhead. Is he even aware that Alex Chilton JUST died, or even of who he is?? I just wanna punch him in his smug British face!!!

The Box Tops wrote that song. Joe Cocker’s version sucked.

Love the big smile on Lee’s face! It was a strange song choice for Lee, nonetheless. I was hoping that he would do “The Letters” just with him and the piano. That way, his big voice would “shine”.. with the big band set up, he instruments and backup vocal sort of over powered his amazing voice. Hopefully with R&B theme next week.. he would strip down a song with him and his acoustic guitar!!
